River Side Villas

River-side villas should be outward looking. Maximum views towards the outer environment for all rooms should be the guiding force. The planning of the building should be done with this in mind.

Residence at Aluva

This project was on the banks of the river Periyar and the main challenge was to give maximum view of this river from all rooms possible. The site was on a bend of the river which allowed a sweeping view of the river from both sides. The main verandah is placed in the back facing the river. The lady of the house was a painter, so instead of a courtyard we designed the house around an art room with skylight where she could display her paintings. This became the heart of the house. The front verandah gives entrance into the art room from where there are entrances to the bedrooms, living room and dining room.
